How To Complete A Writing Assignment

Lately, I've been pretty bad with deadlines. Really, really bad. Imagine if J.D. Salinger had a baby with Axl Rose. That's the level of bad that I'm talking about here.

I've got a project that I'm pretty psyched about coming up in a few months. Of course, this required me to actually write something. Here's a break-down of my most recent writing process.

8:00 am - Wake up.

10:30 am - Get up out of bed.

11:00 am - Go get some breakfast.

11:45 am - Catnap.

1:50 pm - Hunker down and start writing.

2:00 pm - Start watching 'Must Love Dogs' on cable.

2:11 pm - Scold self for watching 11 minutes of 'Must Love Dogs' on cable.

2:12 pm - Hook up video-game system that I haven't touched in years just to make sure that I'm still good at playing them.

5:00 pm - Beer myself. Watch music videos.

6:00 pm - Free-style rap while making dinner. Decide just to order delivery.

6:30 pm - Give them video-games another crack.

8:30 pm - Draft e-mail requesting a time extension.

9:00 pm - Actually begin writing.

10:30 pm - Read what I've written and decide that I hate it.

2 days later - Submit something that I wrote a few years ago.

I have the same problem with 'Must Love Dogs'. Its on cable all the time and just feels like a movie that is rewatchable, but in reality it is not even watchable once.

love the daily schedule...scary how true it is.

the hardest part of getting an assignment done is the settling down. It is amazing how many little distractions and chores need to be done first.

keep up the good writing
